- Install Remote Wear for Roku app in your phone
- It will automatically install the remote app in the paired smartwatches

What is Remote Wear for Roku?
Remote Wear for Roku lets you control your Roku from your smartwatch! It connects your Roku and smartwatch through your mobile device. It consists of two apps - the phone app and the smartwatch app. In the phone app you can select which Roku device you want to control. You can control your Roku from both apps. You don't need a smartwatch to use the phone app.
What is the difference between the free version and the Instant Watch Edition?
In the free version the phone app contains ads and the smartwatch app has a 5 minute trial. After the trial period the watch app will delay sending the commands to your Roku. You can close the watch app by swiping right and start a new 5 minute trial. There is no trial period or time limit in the phone app.
In the Instant Watch Edition there are no ads in the phone app and no trial period in the smartwatch app. Enjoy the apps without limits! You can upgrade to the Instant Watch Edition from the phone app's menu.
How do I connect with Roku devices?
Once you install the app in your phone and smartwatch, make sure the phone and Roku are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The phone app will automatically detect Roku devices in your network. If it is not able to find them, use the 'refresh' option in the Roku devices menu to scan for devices.
Once it finds your Roku devices, you can give a friendly name to each device in the Roku devices menu.
If you're having trouble then you may add the Roku device manually using the option in the Roku devices menu. Enter the Roku's IP address from the Settings menu in your Roku device and give it a friendly name.
How do I switch from controlling one Roku device to another?
You can switch from one Roku device to another from devices menu in the phone app. This feature to switch Rokus is not available in the smartwatch app.
I get "Watch not found" or "Phone not found" messages. What should I do?
Please make sure you have the latest version of Android Wear from Google Play. This app requires Android Wear version 1.1.1.1889093 or above to work. The phone and smartwatch will not be able to find each other without the latest version of Android Wear.
Please make sure the phone and watch are "Connected" in the Android Wear app. Sometimes the Android Wear app will say "Connecting..." when they lose connection.
How do I keep the Roku Remote app to stay open in my smartwatch?
By default the watch remote goes into a lower power ambient mode when it is left open and not used. You can turn on the "Keep watch remote fully open" option in the Settings menu of the phone app. This option keeps the watch screen on in full power mode. To save battery in your smartwatch you may want to turn this option off. A similar option to keep the phone remote open is also available in the Settings menu of the phone app.
How do I turn off the vibration in my smartwatch when I press the remote buttons?
You can turn on the "Vibrate watch on touch" option in the Settings menu in the phone app. This option is enabled by default. To save battery in your smartwatch you may want to turn this option off.
What is the "Mobile Hotspot" option for?
If you don't have a working Wi-Fi/Internet connection and if you want to connect your Roku to a mobile hotspot then you can enable this option to control it within the hotspot. If you are using Roku in a Wi-Fi network then don't enable this setting. Follow these steps to control a Roku device within a mobile hotspot:
- Enable "Mobile Hotspot" option in the Settings menu.
- Turn on your mobile hotspot and connect your Roku device to it.
- In the Roku devices menu, manually add your Roku's IP address (192.168.x.y) and give it a friendly name.
- Refreshing devices might not work in a mobile hotspot, so you might have to add it manually.
- Select the Roku device you want to control in the devices menu
- Use the remote to control it from your phone app
- Open the remote app in your smartwatch and control your Roku from your wrist!
Do I always need a Wi-Fi network to use Remote Wear for Roku?
No, if you don't have a Wi-Fi network, you could use Remote Wear for Roku in a mobile hotspot to control your Roku. Follow the steps listed here.
